About

About

Ariel Belle is an English artist living in Bath, UK.

I turn photographs into individual artworks. Along with portraits, my other preoccupation is making photographs look aged and old, like they are from some bygone lost age. I also make short art movies.

My work is often based around sexual deviance, repressed female violence and explores a new extreme feminist perspective.

Influences: Jan Saudek, China Hamilton, Oscar Wilde, Frida Kahlo & Angela Carter.

I am unashameably a modern hetaira  - my life is art!

I only photograph special individuals. I want to try to capture more than a face - I want to capture their essence, express what makes them different and unique in the world. So along with my sincere thanks, I hope have done justice to my wonderful, giving friends who have all been photographed by me over the years. None of whom are professional models.

My sincere thanks to the unique and beautiful women who have allowed me to film and photograph them - Melissa, Sarah, Cher Windmill Girl, Camilla, Sloan, Nina, Helen, Diva, Lisa, Chrissie, Kate, Amanda, Rebekka, Laura and Rosie Rosa Swan. And the Y chromosomes - Paul, Ray, Steve, China, Adam & The Dirty Disco (Adam, Kyle, Kyle, Olly & Andrew).

Particularly to my three Muses whose outer and inner beauty have been the inspiration for my work. To Phaedra, my beloved friend, whose eccentricity is unsurpassed. To my beautiful Christine, my love, whose talents abound. To Jzara, whose darkness and creativity has always equalled outstanding results.

To the cast, crew and extras who all worked for free on 'Old Enough To Bleed: Virgin, Whore, Mother, Goddess' - Chrissie, Steve G, Helen, Amanda, Vince, Christine, Adam, Lawrence & the Roissy Workshop, Angela and Tina. And similarly on 'The Wedding': Adam2, Fizzy, Scorpio (Antonio), Colleen, Jazz, Camille, Peter & Adam.

And most especially to my camera-man Brian Williams whose genius with a camera, perceptive input and constant unflagging effort under very trying conditions - Not low budget, No budget! (one-take only - that's all we can afford) led to some brilliant visual results.

To Yak, for the design of this site (Flux Designs) Mighty Fine
& Frank from Iconoclast Design for maintaining it.

Lastly to Kim from Club Rub for the opportunity to show my work and for being so enthusiastic and open to my ideas.
